Hiking Boot Size Conversion Guide

Convert hiking boot sizes across US, UK, EU, CM and JP systems with fit tips for thick socks, toe room, descents and waterproof boots.

Hiking boots need more fit planning than casual shoes because terrain, socks and swelling change how they feel. Start by measuring foot length in centimeters, then compare regional labels with the Shoe Size Converter.

Measure With Trail Socks

Thick socks add volume, so measure or try boots with the sock setup you plan to use. If you wear liners or orthotic insoles, include those too. Boots that feel right barefoot or with thin socks may become too tight on the trail.

Leave Room for Descents

Downhill walking pushes feet forward. You need enough front space so toes do not hit the boot end, but not so much that your heel slides. A secure heel cup and proper lacing can help balance toe room with stability.

Check Width and Break-In

Waterproof boots and leather boots may feel stiffer than mesh hikers. Do not rely on break-in to fix major pressure points. If the length is right but the forefoot pinches, look for wide-width models rather than automatically sizing up.
