Glove Size Conversion for Men, Women & Kids

Convert glove sizes between US, UK and EU systems using hand circumference and length. Includes measuring instructions and size charts for men, women and children's gloves.

Glove sizing varies across US, UK and EU systems, but all of them ultimately depend on the circumference of your hand around the knuckles. US and UK glove sizes use a numeric scale from roughly 6 to 12 for adults, with each number corresponding to the hand circumference in inches. EU glove sizes also use numbers but the scale does not align directly with inches — a US 8 glove is not the same as an EU 8. Children's gloves add another layer with age-based sizing. Our Glove Size Converter maps all three systems for adults and kids.

How to Measure Hand Circumference

To measure your hand for glove sizing, use a soft measuring tape around the widest part of your palm, just below the knuckle line but above the thumb. Do not include the thumb in the measurement. Wrap the tape snugly — it should touch the skin all around without compressing it. Write down the measurement in inches or centimeters. A hand circumference of 8 inches corresponds roughly to a US size 8 glove, which is a medium for men and a large for women in most letter-based sizing systems.

US Glove Numbers vs EU Glove Numbers

US men's glove sizes are numbered by hand circumference in inches — a size 8 fits an 8-inch hand, a size 9 fits a 9-inch hand, and so on. EU glove sizing uses a different numeric system derived from French hand circumference in centimeters, so an EU size 8 (about 20 cm circumference) is much smaller than a US size 8. Women's glove sizes typically run from 6 to 8 in the numeric scale, with EU equivalents shifted by a few numbers. Our Glove Size Converter accounts for these differences so you can match your hand to the right size in any system.

Men's, Women's and Kids Glove Sizing

Men's glove sizes typically range from 7 (small) to 12 (extra extra large), while women's sizes range from 5.5 to 8.5. Children's sizes are usually labeled by age — 2T to 6 for toddlers and young kids, then junior sizes for ages 8 to 14. Because hand proportions change with age, a child's glove size is based on both circumference and finger length. The most reliable approach for kids is to trace their hand on paper and measure the palm width, then compare to a children's size chart rather than guessing by age alone.
