Apple Watch Band Size Guide for Every Wrist
Find your Apple Watch band size with a complete guide to Solo Loop, Sport Band and Milanese sizes for every wrist circumference, plus measuring tips and fit advice.
Apple Watch band sizing can feel confusing because the same wrist size maps to different band sizes depending on which band style you choose. Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop use a numbered size system from 1 to 12, while Sport Bands, Nike bands, and Milanese Loop use a two-size system (S/M and M/L) that overlaps heavily in the middle. Our Watch Band Size Converter helps you match your wrist circumference to the right size for any band style.
Solo Loop Sizing vs Sport Band Sizing
Solo Loop sizes are based on a precise wrist circumference measurement because the stretchy liquid silicone or braided fabric has no buckle or adjustment holes. If you are between Solo Loop sizes, Apple recommends choosing the smaller size for a tighter, more secure fit. Sport Bands, on the other hand, have multiple adjustment holes and cover a wider wrist range per size — an S/M Sport Band typically fits 130 to 180 mm wrists, while an M/L fits 150 to 200 mm.
How to Measure Your Wrist for an Apple Watch
Use a flexible tape measure around the part of your wrist where the watch will sit — typically just above the wrist bone. If you do not have a tape, wrap a strip of paper snugly around your wrist, mark the overlap, and measure against a ruler. For the most accurate Solo Loop fit, measure a second time and use the tighter measurement if they differ, since the loop stretches slightly over time.
Third-Party Band Compatibility
Most third-party bands use the standard 38/40/41 mm or 42/44/45/49 mm lug width system rather than Apple's Solo Loop numbering, so you will need to know your watch case size rather than your wrist circumference. The good news is that the lug width for each Apple Watch generation is standardized: 38/40/41 mm cases use 22 mm lugs for most bands, while 42/44/45/49 mm cases use 24 mm lugs for most bands.
